Sure it is.

With Anti-Spam ACP you can setup profile fields to only be usable after the user has enough posts, say 5.

That will stop 99% of the spammers right there. Most wont even post more than 1 or 2 spams if they can even get past it.

Threshold set to 2 and it seems to be efficient.
