Re: Avira mish-mash of errors

Actually, whatever method is being used by the Iobit Uninstaller software for version identification, would be better (more accurate) than simply switching from using "startui.exe" to "avshadow.exe". And: "Antivirus Host Framework Service" should be deleted from SUMo's detection routine, since it do...

Re: Avira mish-mash of errors

SUMo (latest version 5.5.4.385, as of Feb. 16, 2018) continues to detect "Avira Product Family" (which references the file "startui.exe") as being version 15.0.34.21. Which as stated before, is the wrong file to be looking at, for the version number. SUMo should instead be looking at the file "avsha...

Re: Avira mish-mash of errors

Update: new versions released on Feb. 14, for both of the Avira AV related softwares:
Avira 1.2.106.18629
Avira Antivirus 15.0.34.23 (labeled by SUMo as: "Avira Product Family")

Re: Avira mish-mash of errors

Clarification: Iobit Uninstaller does a first-rate accurate job of identifying the installed software version numbers only. It does not, however, provide any information about the existence of possible software updates, which is what SUMo is designed to do. Iobit Uninstaller does correctly identify ...

Re: Avira mish-mash of errors

For the Avira AV Free product version to be correctly ascertained, the SUMo software author really needs to actually install Avira on a test Windows system. Otherwise, what's obviously in need of correction is going to continue to be mystifyingly obscure. Another good 3rd-party method of checking al...

Re: Avira mish-mash of errors

SUMo just updated to version: 5.5.3.384, as of Feb. 4, 2018. A peculiar new software entry now shows up since the previous SUMo version 5.5.3.383: "Antivirus Host Framework Service", referring to the file avguard.exe. Which should not be showing up at all, since that is not a separate installable so...

Avira mish-mash of errors

Note: was looking for a way to add to a previous Avira related report, but the "MantisBT" web site is a little too non-intuitive. Anyway: Avira had an update today (1 FEB 2018) to "Product version 15.0.34.20". Looking at how SUMo determines the version number, it still is looking at the wrong file f...

Intel Thunderbolt software for Win7

SUMo falsely indicates that Intel Thunderbolt Software version 17.1.64.10 is appropriate for Win7 64-bit. AFAIK, however: that version is only for Win10. The latest version of the Intel Thunderbolt software that's appropriate for Win7 is: 16.3.61.14, which also can install on Win10. But version 17.1...

Re: Avira finds "Adware/Agent.54633" in SUMo 4.5.1.326 (lite)

Update: latest SUMo v. 5.0.11.347 still has the ongoing problem of mis-identifying the Avira AV version number. Currently, for example, SUMo detects the installed product version of Avira AV as being: 15.0.24.143, while the Avira AV program's control panel self-identiies the installed version as bei...

Re: Avira finds "Adware/Agent.54633" in SUMo 4.5.1.326 (lite)

SUMo 4.5.1.333 [correction: SUMo version 5.0.1.333] is still consulting the file "avcenter.exe" for the version number. Either: "avscan.exe" or "avshadow.exe" would probably be a better option. In comparison: the free program "IObit Uninstaller" http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/iobit_uninstal...
