SUMo couldn't detect new Firefox

I still sometimes have the problem with SUMo falsely detecting new versions of some software, even when there is not any new version. More recently I am having the opposite problem.

A new Firefox version (65.0) was released today, but SUMo didn't tell me it was available. Firefox told me about it when I tried to use the browser.

I had the same problem with Mp3tag (https://www.mp3tag.de/en/) twice a couple of weeks ago. Two new releases came out within a few days of each other, but SUMo couldn't see them. Emails from the developer told me about them.

Is this normal? If I understand correctly, SUMo gets its information from other users of the same software. Could it be that no other users are using the new software yet and therefore SUMo can't see them yet?

For firefox, it's now fixed... we just need SUMo to "confirm" the new version based on threshold.

for MP3tag, are you still facing the issue ?

What is this "threshold" you speak of that is needed to confirm the new version of Firefox?

As for MP3tag, it's okay for the moment. I'll have to wait for another update to be sure. I'll let you know if there's anything.

Before setting a given version as active SUMo wait for X users to report it (representative of Y% of the full user's base for a given product). This allow to reduce false positive alerts for update.

Now I am having this same problem with other programs. Today new versions of Freemake Video Downloader (https://www.freemake.com/free_video_downloader/) and Adware Cleaner (https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdown ... dwcleaner/) were released. Each of the programs advised me of an updated version when I started them. But neither one of them showed up in SUMo. Is that the same thing you were mentioning about confirming the new versions based on "threshold"?

AdwCleaner : My mistake : new release was still flagged as "beta" => Fixed
Freemake Video Downloader : SUMo is reporting v3.8.2.22 as current. Isn't it the case ? https://www.kcsoftwares.com/sumo/view.p ... y=Freemake

I'm not sure why Freemake Video Downloader is reporting like that. It says on their website the latest version is 3.8.2, and is dated February 28, 2018. (https://www.freemake.com/freemake_video ... changelog/) It doesn't say anything about sub-versions though (v 3.8.2.22). (I have gotten other updates of that program during the past year.) Anyway, on Saturday it told me about a new update, which I installed.

I'm going to have to find a way to write an email to them about the sub-versions question.

I got an email back from Freemake about their version numbers. Here's what it said:

"The 4th number (22) means minor updates and small bug fixes. We don't post the info about minor release on the website since they happen almost every week."

That sounds right. Their updates are frequent. But I'm not sure what this has to do with their not being detected by SUMo.
