I'm realy not sure what for I paid

Post by PeTr » Sun Mar 06, 2016 4:40 pm

Hello,

I used Sumo as "free" version, after some months I buyed PRO version of SUMO and DUMO ... Can you tell me what is the difference? Because when I request update for software and it does not matter if from sumo web page or from webpage of developer I just received web page where I can see the list of version ... but not the direct link ... first picture, when I click to Download (first button) or Get (second button), I just received google page with non-sense links, because in this example, the official page is 4th page in the list ...

And my question is ... What for reason I paid money, because I cannot see any difference between free and PRO version ...

I installed lite versions ...

Thanks for anwers

Hello,

As stated on SUMo's pages, purchasing the PRO version gives you the following benefit :
- No longer any "thank you" window when you shut down SUMo
- Automatic self-update capability (for SUMo itself)
- Capability to directly bring you to the developer's site, and no longer on SUMo's page or Google search (to be enabled in settings after activation of your licence)

I understand your point and one of the next improvement to come, which will be reserved to paid users like you is to bring you directly to product-specific pages on developer's site.

I suppose that you already have the link, becuase you have to somewhere check it, or it is just info from users. Where the specific downlod url will be implemented?

Because till the time is no reason to have PRO version, because how I can find e.g. Canon Solution Menu Ex ver. 1.4.1.0?

Canon product being device dependant, i'd propose to use the "ignore" function on this one.

It depends on what you call device dependant. This application name sounds to be supported by many Canon devices, probably most since a given device release.

On older computers I've installed various Canon tools to better support the corresponding printer. When I check their support web site if there are updates for these tools, there was only an update for one of them. Many other tools don't show up anymore. Even if I switch their support web site query to select tools for an older operating system, this doesn't change. And for one of them (for scanning with extended configuration options Canon IJ Scan Utility) SUMo tells me that there are updates available although I couldn't find them on the Canon support web site. SUMo tells me that there are
  • 120 SUMo users with this tool installed,
  • 6% having that version installed claimed current on SUMo server,
  • 9% having installed the predecessor proposed as available update by SUMo on my device,
  • most SUMo users having still another version installed and
  • me being in the second-largest group of SUMo users with that tool installed.

According to my understanding this probably means that Canon doesn't support that tool anymore, I wasn't informed about the end of support, nor could I find an archive with the most recent release, but there are other SUMo users who downloaded this tool later than me and closer enough to the end of support of that tool. What I don't understand is why SUMo doesn't propose an update to the version claimed current on SUMo server and where I may get this version from?

As stated, the version proposed by Canon seems to depend on the device used by the user (eg : linked to drivers pacakge).
In such case, i recommend to "ignore" the item in SUMo.
