sumo does not detect out dated MiniTool Partition Wizard 10

Post by j2j » Thu Apr 25, 2019 4:33 pm

Hello,

sumo (versions 5.8.12.415) does not
detect out dated MiniTool Partition Wizard, a disk partition
management tool found at URL https://www.partitionwizard.com/

On my system the Software Free Edition version 10 was installed in
directory:
"C:\Program Files\MiniTool Partition Wizard 10"

But according to product home page the newest version is 11 at 25 April
2019. But sumo does not detect my out dated version.

Sumo still does not report in log file (Ctrl-L) that the executable
"PartitionWizard.exe" is out dated. I also tried deep scan option.

By property tab of explorer file version 10.0.1.0 version and
date 20 February 2017 is reported.

This is also displayed by command
DIR /A "c:\Program Files\MiniTool Partition Wizard 10"
Datenträger in Laufwerk C: ist WINDOWS_8-1
Volumeseriennummer: 1427-AFFE

The log file SUMO.log contains 2 lines like

Verbose [19-04-24 18:23:47] DisplayVersion:
Verbose [19-04-24 18:23:47] DisplayName:MiniTool Partition Wizard Free 10
Apparently the unstall section does not not contain a registry key
like DisplayVersion, which is normally used. The used Inno Setup does not
generate such a key in that case. The registry section for MiniTool
Partition Wizard looks like:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{05D996FA-ADCB-4D23-BA3C-A7C184A8FAC6}_is1]
"Inno Setup: Setup Version"="5.5.9 (u)"

"Inno Setup: User"="user1"
"Inno Setup: Selected Tasks"="desktopicon"
"Inno Setup: Deselected Tasks"=""
"Inno Setup: Language"="english"
"DisplayName"="MiniTool Partition Wizard Free 10"
"UninstallString"="\"C:\\Program Files\\MiniTool Partition Wizard 10\\unins000.exe\""
"QuietUninstallString"="\"C:\\Program Files\\MiniTool Partition Wizard 10\\unins000.exe\" /SILENT"
"Publisher"="MiniTool Solution Ltd."
"URLInfoAbout"="http://www.partitionwizard.com"
"HelpLink"="http://www.partitionwizard.com"
"URLUpdateInfo"="http://www.partitionwizard.com"
"NoModify"=dword:00000001
"NoRepair"=dword:00000001
"InstallDate"="20181109"
"EstimatedSize"=dword:00013ca1
I hope that such cases like MiniTool Partition Wizard 10 are handled
by sumo program in the future.

Thanks

I've found the cause : https://www.kcsoftwares.com/sumo/start/ ... ion+Wizard+

They changed the company name, therefore SUMo sees v11 as a distinct product.
I'll fix : https://www.kcsoftwares.com/bugs/view.php?id=5450
